About This Soundtrack
The romantic drama series Every Year After on Prime Video, based on Carley Fortune's bestselling novel Every Summer After, presents a nostalgic love story set in the lakeside town of Barry's Bay. Developed by showrunner Amy B. Harris and Leila Gerstein, the series tracks the relationship between Percy Fraser and Sam Florek over several years, exploring how their childhood connection transforms into a complicated adult romance after a tragic event forces them to reunite.
To set the emotional tone of the series, the soundtrack features an acoustic-driven selection of licensed music, highlighted by Maggie Rogers' hit song Light On in the official trailer. These musical selections convey the transition between warm summer memories and the melancholy of adulthood. The licensing focuses on indie folk and alternative pop tracks that reflect the characters' growth and the setting's peaceful yet reflective mood.
In addition to the licensed songs, British composer Tom Howe provides the original instrumental score for the series. Known for his work on Ted Lasso and Daisy Jones & The Six, Howe uses delicate piano themes and string arrangements to support the dual-timeline storytelling. This guide lists all songs by episode as they release, complete with timestamps and composer details.

Did you know?
- Maggie Rogers Theme: The official trailer for Every Year After uses Maggie Rogers' hit single 'Light On' from her debut album Heard It In A Past Life. The song's blend of electronic pop beats and introspective lyrics perfectly captures the nostalgic feeling of summer lake houses and long-distance yearning.
- Bestselling Adaptation: Carley Fortune's debut novel Every Summer After spent multiple weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. For the screen adaptation, showrunners Amy B. Harris (The Carrie Diaries) and Leila Gerstein (Hart of Dixie) kept the emotional dual-timeline structure to tell Percy and Sam's romance.
- Barry's Bay Setting: Although filmed primarily in beautiful locations around Bowen Island and Vancouver in British Columbia, the show's musical choices and score were designed to convey the rustic, relaxing vibe of the real Barry's Bay in Ontario, where the novel is set.
