About This Soundtrack
Created, directed, and written by horror visionary Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher), the 2026 Amazon Prime Video eight-part series Carrie reinvents Stephen King's landmark debut novel for the modern social media era. Starring Summer H. Howell as the telekinetic outcast Carrie White and Flanagan regular Samantha Sloyan as her fanatical mother Margaret, the miniseries updates the timeless tale of high school cruelty and religious fanaticism with harrowing psychological depth.
The Carrie Season 1 soundtrack is a masterclass in atmospheric tension, combining nostalgic 80s new wave, gothic dark pop, and indie rock needle drops with an original score by longtime Flanagan collaborators The Newton Brothers. Key musical highlights across the eight episodes include Wolf Alice's haunting 'In the Bleak Midwinter', AURORA's ethereal 'Through the Eyes of a Child', A Flock of Seagulls' synth-pop classic 'I Ran (So Far Away)', Agnes Obel's brooding 'Fuel to Fire', K.Flay's intense 'High Enough', Conan Gray's vibrant 'Lonely Dancers', and Lana Del Rey's melancholic 'Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd'.

About the Composer(s)
The Newton Brothers (Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart) are an acclaimed American composing duo renowned for their chilling, atmospheric scores in contemporary horror. Frequent creative partners of director Mike Flanagan, they previously scored The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Doctor Sleep. For Carrie, they created an unsettling blend of classical strings, distorted choir variations, and claustrophobic electronic textures.

Did you know?
- Flanagan & The Newton Brothers Collaboration: The original score for Carrie was composed by Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart (The Newton Brothers), marking their ninth major collaboration with director Mike Flanagan after The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, and The Fall of the House of Usher.
- Curriculum Episode Titles: Each of the eight episodes is titled after a standard high school academic class or subject period ('FIRST PERIOD', 'FOREIGN LANGUAGE', 'SOCIAL STUDIES', 'DRAMATIC ARTS', 'PHYSICAL EDUCATION', 'HOME ECONOMICS', 'ROMANTIC LITERATURE', 'AP PHYSICS'), mirroring Carrie's tragic school year.
- Eclectic Genre Balance: The needle drops bridge generational gaps by juxtaposing classic 1980s new wave anthems like A Flock of Seagulls' 'I Ran (So Far Away)' with viral indie-pop gems by artists like AURORA, Wolf Alice, and Lana Del Rey.
- Eerie Vocal Distortions in the Score: The Newton Brothers incorporated distorted choir arrangements and unconventional bowed string textures into the instrumental score to mirror Carrie White's fracturing psychological state as her telekinesis grows.
- Stephen King Modern Adaptation: This series marks Mike Flanagan's fourth Stephen King screen adaptation, following Gerald's Game (2017), Doctor Sleep (2019), and The Life of Chuck (2024).

About the Show
In this bold, modern reimagining of Stephen King's classic horror novel directed by horror auteur Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass), Carrie follows Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), a sheltered high school outcast struggling to cope with the sudden death of her father and the stifling religious control of her domineering mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan).
Thrust into a 21st-century public high school, Carrie is subjected to relentless psychological bullying that escalates in the modern age of smartphones, livestreaming, and social media humiliation. As the cruelty reaches a fever pitch, Carrie begins to manifest terrifying, newly discovered telekinetic powers. Her fragile reality fractures between the religious torment at home and the schoolyard malice outside, culminating in an inevitable, blood-soaked disaster at the senior prom.
