About This Soundtrack

Premiering on Apple TV+ on June 18, 2026, the second season of the stylish neo-noir detective drama series Sugar brings back the enigmatic private investigator John Sugar (played by Colin Farrell). Following the mind-bending sci-fi twist of the first season, John Sugar continues his detective work in Los Angeles, taking on a new case to locate the troubled brother of rising local boxer Danny Moon. The series continues to stand out for its stunning visuals, classic Hollywood homage, and a brilliant musical score that captures the moody, mysterious atmosphere of L.A. noir.

The original score for Sugar is composed by the acclaimed duo Ali Shaheed Muhammad (of A Tribe Called Quest fame) and producer-composer Adrian Younge. Known for their analog, retro-soul, and cinematic instrumental styles, they craft a rich musical backdrop using vintage synthesizers, smooth horn arrangements, and deep basslines. The soundtrack is further enhanced by a diverse selection of licensed songs, featuring tracks like Glenn Miller's nostalgic 'Mr. Lonely', Kamasi Washington's jazz epic 'Street Fighter Mas', the electronic beats of Park Hye Jin, and Frank Sinatra's timeless 'One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)'..

About the Show

In the second season of the Apple TV+ neo-noir series, private investigator John Sugar, played by Colin Farrell, returns to the sun-drenched streets of Los Angeles for a brand-new mission. This time, he is hired to find the troubled older brother of a rising local boxer named Danny Moon. Working pro bono, Sugar navigates the dark underbelly of the city, only to discover that this simple missing persons case is actually tied to a sinister, city-wide conspiracy involving corrupt police officers and dangerous criminals.

Meanwhile, Sugar must face the heavy consequences of the massive truth revealed in the first season: he is actually an alien sent to Earth to observe humanity. Having chosen to stay behind while the rest of his kind departed, he uses a subspace shortwave radio to search for any other remaining aliens. As he balances this deeply personal quest with his official investigation, Sugar struggles with a profound inner conflict, wondering if his time living among humans is permanently changing who he is.
