About This Soundtrack
Created by Eric Robles with executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer, Netflix's animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales from '85 returns for Season 2 with eight new episodes. Set during the winter of 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, the story follows the core kids as they form the Hawkins Investigators Club to uncover the dark mystery behind strange iridescent flowers and supernatural entities invading their town.
The soundtrack for Stranger Things: Tales from '85 Season 2 is a vibrant tribute to mid-eighties pop, new wave, and post-punk music culture. The official season trailer pulses to New Order's legendary 1983 dance-rock anthem 'Blue Monday', while episodic needle drops feature ABC's sophisti-pop hit 'Poison Arrow', Love and Rockets' atmospheric 'Haunted When the Minutes Drag', Patty Smyth's anthemic 'The Warrior' (feat. Scandal), and Violent Femmes' acoustic favorite 'Good Feeling'.
Tying these licensed classics together is an original instrumental score composed by Gravity Falls veteran Brad Breeck. Breeck's score blends warm vintage analog synthesizers, pulsing bass sequences, and chilling supernatural motifs that evoke the golden age of 1980s fantasy cinema. About the Show
In the second season of Netflix's animated adventure series Stranger Things: Tales From '85, the young Hawkins crew returns to their everyday routines of arcade gaming and bike rides during the snowy winter of 1985. However, as Valentine's Day approaches, an uncanny supernatural phenomenon shatters the town's fragile peace. Strange iridescent flora begins blooming across Hawkins, accompanied by chilling spectral apparitions and a swarm of destructive hate sprites.
Banding together once again as the Hawkins Investigators Club, Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and their inventive friend Nikki embark on an unauthorized investigation. Their search leads them deep into a long-abandoned Hawkins mine, where they discover an encroaching subterranean ecosystem threatening to rip open a catastrophic new gateway to the Upside Down.
Executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer alongside series creator Eric Robles, the animated spinoff blends classic Saturday-morning nostalgia with the atmospheric dread of mid-eighties sci-fi horror. The soundtrack anchors this retro charm with needle drops from iconic eighties bands like New Order, ABC, Violent Femmes, and Love and Rockets, tied together by Brad Breeck's evocative analog synth score.
