About This Soundtrack
The 2026 survival thriller film Heart of the Beast, directed by David Ayer and written by Cameron Alexander, tells the story of James Belmont (Brad Pitt), a retired Army Special Forces soldier. Following a catastrophic plane crash in the remote Alaskan wilderness, James is stranded with only his combat dog, Odin. To survive, the pair must embark on a dangerous journey back to civilization, confronting the harsh environment and their own past traumas. The film stars Brad Pitt alongside J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe.
The film's musical backdrop pairs an atmospheric original score composed by Jared Michael Fry with poignant licensed needle drops. Highlights featured across the film and promotional campaigns include the evocative 'Looking Up' by Lauren Spencer Smith and Stephen Wilson Jr.'s powerful acoustic rendition of 'Stand By Me' (Live at The Print Shop), alongside Moby's iconic electronic track 'Flower' in the official trailer. Fry’s instrumental compositions heighten the visceral isolation of the Alaskan terrain, blending subtle ambient synths with organic acoustic arrangements.
