William Bradley Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He first gained recognition as a cowboy hitchhiker in Ridley Scott's road movie Thelma & Louise (1991). His first leading roles in big-budget productions came with the drama films A River Runs Through It (1992) and Legends of the Fall (1994), and Interview with the Vampire (1994). He delivered critically acclaimed performances in David Fincher's crime thriller Se7en (1995) and the science fiction film 12 Monkeys (1995), the latter earning him a Golden Globe Award and his first Academy Award nomination.

Pitt starred in the cult film Fight Club (1999) and the heist film Ocean's Eleven (2001), as well as its sequels, Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007). He has achieved greatest commercial successes with Troy (2004), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), World War Z (2013), and David Ayer's Fury (2014). Pitt has received second and third Academy Award nominations for his leading performances in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and Moneyball (2011). He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for portraying Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).

As a producer, Pitt founded Plan B Entertainment in 2001. He has produced several Academy Award-winning films, including The Departed (2006), 12 Years a Slave (2013), and Moonlight (2016). Plan B has been a significant force in producing high-quality independent and studio projects, earning him an Academy Award for Best Picture as a producer of 12 Years a Slave.
