Mark Isham (born September 7, 1951) is a highly acclaimed American film composer, trumpeter, and electronic music pioneer. Raised in New York City and later the San Francisco Bay Area, he studied piano, violin, and trumpet, performing with local symphonies and working as a touring musician for legends like Van Morrison and The Beach Boys. Isham made his film scoring debut with 1983's Never Cry Wolf and went on to score over 200 productions. He won a Grammy Award for his 1990 self-titled album and received an Academy Award nomination for Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It (1992) and a Golden Globe nomination for Nell (1994).
