About the Show
The fifth season of the acclaimed British crime drama Professor T returns to the academic halls of Cambridge University, starring Ben Miller as the eccentric and brilliant criminologist Professor Jasper Tempest. Struggling with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and haunted by unresolved family secrets, Jasper assists the Greater Cambridge Police in solving their most baffling cases. In Season 5, the team—led by DCI Maiya Goswami (Sunetra Sarker), alongside detectives Dan Winters (Barney White) and Chloe Highsmith (Rhian Blundell)—faces a new wave of complex homicides that test Jasper's deductive powers. Meanwhile, Jasper continues his therapeutic journey under Dr. Helena Goldberg (Juliet Stevenson) while dealing with the overbearing presence of his mother, Adelaide (Frances de la Tour), and his aunt, Zelda Radclyffe (Zoë Wanamaker).
Produced by Eagle Eye Drama for ITV and PBS Masterpiece, the six-episode season premiered for streaming on August 9, 2026. The series' musical signature is defined by its whimsical and dramatic original score composed by Belgian award-winner Hannes De Maeyer, who blends chamber orchestra themes with electronic arrangements to mirror the brilliant, structured, yet chaotic mind of Jasper Tempest. Additionally, the soundtrack relies heavily on licensed classical music masterpieces, dramatic operas, classic jazz, and intense tangos that represent Jasper's sophisticated and eccentric personality.
