About This Soundtrack

Scheduled for theatrical release on October 23, 2026, A Talent for Murder is a psychological thriller film directed by Anton Corbijn (Control, A Most Wanted Man, The American) from a screenplay by Joanna Murray-Smith. Adapted from Murray-Smith's acclaimed 2014 stage play Switzerland, the movie stars Academy Award winner Helen Mirren as legendary crime novelist Patricia Highsmith, alongside Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Oppenheimer), Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon, Sound of Metal), and Juliet Stevenson (Bend It Like Beckham).

The musical identity of A Talent for Murder features an original instrumental score composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter's Bone, Locke, The Lost Daughter), alongside music supervision by industry veteran Ian Neil (Control, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Free Guy). Reuniting director Anton Corbijn with supervisor Ian Neil nearly two decades after their iconic collaboration on the Joy Division biopic Control (2007), the soundtrack weaves tense string arrangements with carefully selected commercial needle drops to complement the sinister cat-and-mouse game unfolding in the Swiss Alps.

About the Composer(s)

Dickon Hinchliffe is an acclaimed British composer, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of the Nottingham chamber-pop band Tindersticks. After launching his film scoring career with director Claire Denis on Nénette et Boni (1996) and Friday Night (2002), Hinchliffe established a distinguished solo career creating sparse, evocative, and string-heavy scores for independent cinema. His notable credits include Debra Granik's Oscar-nominated drama Winter's Bone (2010), Steven Knight's high-concept thriller Locke (2013), Ira Sachs' Little Men (2016), and Maggie Gyllenhaal's psychological drama The Lost Daughter (2021). For Anton Corbijn's 2026 psychological thriller A Talent for Murder, Hinchliffe composed a tense and atmospheric score that mirrors the psychological game played between Patricia Highsmith and her visitor.
