Classically trained as a soprano, Hathaway rose to prominence with her starring debut in the Disney comedy The Princess Diaries (2001). Les Misérables Transformation: To portray the tragic character Fantine, Anne Hathaway underwent a rigorous physical transformation, cutting her hair short on-camera and losing 25 pounds.
